Inner Wheelers plug cervical cancer awareness

Both clubs are celebrating 25 years of voluntary service this year under the theme ‘Help Bring Hope’ and for this month focus is being placed on cervical cancer. A press release from the Inner Wheel Clubs called on Guyanese women to be informed and to get screened for cervical cancer during this month of awareness.

The release pointed to the availability of pap smears and urged women to contact their doctors and health centres. The clubs underscored the impact of cervical cancer in the country.

In addition, the clubs made an appeal for blood donations saying that if people give blood there would always be a sufficient supply at the blood bank in case of an emergency. The release said too that persons can donate blood at the Guyana Red Cross Society on Tuesday between noon and 5 pm.
