Bamia roadblock yields ganja bag

A roadblock mounted by the Linden Police at Bamia along the Linden/Soesdyke Highway yesterday resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old man.

Police in a routine operation around 12.30pm stopped and searched a minibus headed to Georgetown from Linden and found the 27-year-old carpenter, who gave his address as Hunter Street, Georgetown, with 240 grams of marijuana.

The marijuana was concealed in a bag he was carrying at the time.

According to reliable sources, ranks had stopped the bus and asked the driver and fourteen passengers to disembark the vehicle and a search of each person was conducted.

At the time, the man had the bag in his hand. . He cooperated with the police throughout.

He is currently in custody at the MacKenzie Police Station assisting with further investigations.
