One critical after accident at Sheriff Street

A mid-afternoon accident on Sheriff Street yesterday, involving a truck and a car left one person nursing injuries, which were said to be critical.

The accident which occurred close to the intersection of Sheriff Street and Duncan Street, resulted after the driver of a delivery truck belonging to Banks DIH which was travelling south along Sheriff Street lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the motor car PGG 8100.

According to an eyewitness, he noticed the truck travelling at a fast rate along the roadway before it collided with the car which was proceeding in the opposite direction. The driver of the car was pinned in the vehicle and it took a while before he was retrieved and according to the eyewitness, the driver of the truck related that his brakes had failed and he subsequently lost control of the vehicle.3

The driver of the car was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital to seek medical attention following the accident.
