Road builder killed after pinned under machine

Police are probing the death of construction worker Sooknandan Ramdial who was killed yesterday after a roller machine which he was operating reportedly toppled and pinned him down.

Ramdial of Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice was part of a team constructing a road at Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara when the incident was said to have occurred.

Police said in a press release that Ramdial was operating the machine when it toppled and pinned him below around 3:35 pm yesterday.  Ramdial was employed with a private construction firm.

Police said the body is at Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
