The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs registered over 300 persons when it hosted an outreach exercise in Region Eight aimed at speeding-up registration for birth certificates and identifying the needs of the community.

A Government Information Agency (GINA) press release said the exercise was a collaborative effort that had been facilitated by the Community Development Officers and village Toshaos. The ministry will also be collaborating with the General Registry Office to ensure that the birth certificates are issued to villagers within a month. GINA said 372 persons were registered during the exercise which was held at Paramakatoi, Bamboo Creek, Tuseneng and Monkey Mountain.

Also, consultations were held in Paramakatoi and Monkey Mountain to determine the needs of the communities and will serve as a guide for the ministry when planning and executing developmental strategies. According to GINA, two sessions will be held in each region, with the next exercise set for Wednesday to Sunday in Sub-Region Two and Region Eight at Micobie, Tumatumari, Campbell Town, Chenapau, Princeville and Karisparau.
