The second phase of the creation of a playfield for the children of the Shaheed Boys and Girls Orphanages is progressing at the girls’ home at Oleander Gardens.

Construction work and land filling being undertaken in the compound of the Shaheed Girl’s Orphanage to create a playfield.

In a press release Chairman of Board Badruddin Hassan said last year it undertook the project to create a facility for orphans and vulnerable children. He said on completion this would be the first institution to boast such a facility. The current phase of the project is estimated to cost $2 million and will see the rebuilding of the perimeter fence and land filling to create a playfield at the back of the girl’s orphanage.

According to the release, machinery to conduct the works was provided free of cost, by M Rafik and Sons Construction Co of Berbice.
