Four gunmen robbed an East Canje businessman and his family of $130,000 cash and other valuables on Saturday night.

The 36-year-old businessman Zahir Ali, of Betsy Ground, East Canje, Berbice, and his family were attacked by the gunmen at about 7.20 that night.

The attackers then took away $130,000, a quantity of cellular phone cards, three cellular phones and some personal jewellery before escaping. As the attackers escaped they discharged several rounds in the air, police reported.
