The Ministry of Home Affairs has published more names and addresses of businesses across the country which have been classified as noise nuisances.

According to a release from the ministry it continues to receive numerous complaints from senior citizens, the sick, working parents, students and several law abiding citizens to the effect that they have been affected by loud, “repetitive and continuous noise emanating” from the addresses published.

Among the names and addresses published are the Healing Hands Faith Centre and Deliverance Ministry located at Charity, Essequibo Coast; Light House Chapel International, Freeman Street, Georgetown; Papechulo Night Club, 49 Hadfield Street; owners of private vehicles attending night spots on Sheriff Street; Black Battie Bar; Mike Rooplall’s Liquor Shop; and White Chair Liquor Shop, all located at Enmore, East Coast Demerara. Also classified as nuisances were Desmond Taxi Service, 311 Third Street, Grove, East Bank Demerara; the Mosque in Alexander Village; a resident at 910 Second Field Cummings Lodge; another resident at West Road and Rollox Street, Plaisance; Guru and Joanne’s Grocery Shop, Betsy Ground Village, New Amsterdam; King’s Den Bar, Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara; and Woodwork & Furniture Workshop, 225 Fern Drive, South Ruimveldt.

Once again the ministry said it made checks at the above locations and others on specified days and has verified the validity and justification of the complaints.

The ministry has since provided the relevant police commanders with the details pertaining to the complaints and they now have to take the necessary action under Subsection (1) of Section 174 of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offence) Act as amended by Act No. 1 of 1968.
