Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday ordered that a 40-year-old man be remanded to prison when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court for allegedly threatening to kill a woman.

Ron Cromwell of Lot 26 Dowding Street, Kitty pleaded not guilty to a threatening language charge.

He denied that on March 8, at his Kitty home he used threatening language to Joan De Abreau.

De Abreau, who was also in court, stated that Cromwell’s brother had rented her the upper flat of his home, much to the annoyance of Cromwell, who lives in the same yard.

She said that whenever any of her friends or relatives went to the yard Cromwell would ask them for money and when they refused to give him he would become abusive.

She said that on the day of the incident she went to speak to Cromwell’s brother but he was not in his room. She said that when she was about to leave Cromwell approached her and told her to leave the house and when she refused he threatened to kill her.

Cromwell is expected to make another court appearance on April 16. (AB)
