Corentyne fisherman attacked by pirates

A fisherman was attacked by pirates off the Letter Kenny Village, Corentyne foreshore last Thursday and robbed of his engine, cell phone and groceries.

During the ordeal, the man, Narine Sundar of Rose Hall, Corentyne was lashed about the body with a cutlass but was sent away after receiving treatment at the Port Mourant Hospital.

Police said on Saturday that they are investigating the incident which occurred around 19:00 hours during which Sundar was attacked and robbed by three men, one of whom was armed with a cutlass. Investigations re-vealed that Sundar was fishing when the three men came up alongside his boat in another vessel. They then boarded his boat and took away his Yamaha outboard engine, cell phone, and groceries and escaped.

Investigations are continuing.
