Rosignol Primary stages mash parade

Students of the Rosignol Primary School in Region Five came out in numbers to join in the celebration of Mashramani 2010 with a Children’s Parade last month.

Accompanied by teachers and parents, the children tramped from the school to the Berbice River Bridge in the neighbouring village and back, all in high spirits for the celebration. They showcased the beauty of Guyana with their skillfully decorated costumes and floats. The children also waved the National Flag and moved to the beat of the accompanying music played from a truck.

The school also participated in the Children’s Costume Competition at the regional and national levels, placing first and second in dance in the eight to ten years old and the five to seven years old categories respectively.

The schools’ participation in the 11 to 13 years-old physical display pyramid and the costume display categories also earned it first places. The costume, designed by Lieta Persaud, Shinella Gamble and Ann Helligar was titled ‘Flying High in Unity.’

Meanwhile, other schools in regions Five and Six also celebrated in like manner.
