GRA cashier facing two more larceny by clerk charges

He pleaded not guilty to charges that he misappropriated over $600,000 from the agency.

It is alleged that De Mendonca, 24, of 1659 Congress Drive, South Ruimveldt Park, between December 1 and 9, 2009, being employed by the GRA, stole $258,380 which he had received on behalf of the agency.  The second charge stated that between November 6 and 30 last year, he stole $440,286, money he had received on behalf of the GRA.

He was represented in this instance by Sasha Roberts, who told the court that her client is on indefinite leave from his job. She said he was granted bail on the previous matters he has before the court and asked the court for bail to be granted in the same amount on the current charges.

The prosecutor had no objection to bail and asked that the matters be transferred to Court Two where the defendant is facing the other matters.

On March 4, De Mendonca was placed on $150,000 bail when the first two charges were read to him. It was alleged that between September 11 and 30 last year, while employed as a clerk at the GRA, he stole $163,730 and between October 15 and 30 last year, he stole $466,160, monies which he had received on behalf of the agency. He had pleaded not guilty to those charges.

The defendant was granted $75,000 bail on each count with the matter being returnable for April 26 in Court Two.
