Published author and accountant Lal Balkaran last Wednesday presented several books on auditing to Auditor General (ag) Deodat Sharma after a workshop on internal and external auditing.

“The thrust behind this forum was to educate the auditing staff to adopt a different approach to auditing so as to guarantee that taxpayers get value for money,” the Government Information Agency (GINA) quoted Balkaran, who practices in Canada, as saying. Balkaran was hopeful that the resources made available to the Audit Office would be put into good use and that auditors would employ the various techniques at their respective agencies.

He said auditors equipped with the right tools and methodologies and armed with the appropriate knowledge and skill-set deliver high-powered audits.

Auditors from several governmental agencies participated in the workshop.
