Dowding Street man remanded over gun and ammo possession

Shawn Morgan of Dowding Street, Kitty, was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court accused of being found with a gun and a quantity of ammunition in his possession.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges of unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition when Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton read them to him.

He denied that on April 16, he had a .357 Magnum revolver, 23 rounds of .357 ammunition and 20 rounds of.32 ammunition in his possession without having a firearm licence in force at the time.

Prosecutor Joel Ricknauth requested that Morgan be remanded to prison and that a date be set for his trial.

Morgan is expected to make another court appearance on June 30.
