Robbers grab $600,000 after holding up delivery men

Two employees of the Pomeroon Oil Mills were yesterday afternoon robbed at a Better Hope, East Coast Demerara business entity while making a delivery.

Reports are that two men, who posed as customers, robbed the workers.

The two employees stopped at the location to make the delivery.

One of them, a porter, entered the store to arrange a sale while the driver of the vehicle waited on his colleague. During this time, two men entered the business entity and purchased two bottles of drinking water.

Persons at the scene told Stabroek News that the men then exited the business place and shortly after, they attacked the driver of the vehicle with knives as his colleague was inside the business place.

The man was relieved of some $600,000 cash and the bandits later escaped in a waiting blue motor car.

The incident was reported to the Sparendaam Police Station and based on the identification provided of the vehicle involved, this newspaper was told by persons at the scene that the vehicle may have been involved in  a series of robberies in the area.
