Live-in employee died of cirrhosis

Lochan Singh Ramdin, the 56-year-old man who was found dead at his workplace at Guysons Engineering, West Ruimveldt on Tuesday died as a result of cirrhosis of the liver, an autopsy found yesterday.

The body of Ramdin was discovered by a resident on Tuesday morning and the authorities were notified. Ramdin’s brother, Karamchand Ramdin called ‘Kushie’ had told Stabroek News that Lochan had worked with the company for the past 25 years and lived on the premises. He was found on the floor of the bedroom and blood was oozing out of his mouth, ears and nose, he said.

An autopsy was done at the Georgetown Public Hospital yesterday and it revealed that Ramdin died as a result of cirrhosis of the liver, Karamchand told Stabroek News yesterday.

Karamchand had said he was told that his brother had a few drinks on Father’s Day and the following day, Monday, complained of feeling unwell. On Tuesday he was found dead. Ramdin’s funeral is scheduled for today at Airy Hall on the Essequibo Coast.
