UK appoints Bond acting high commissioner

The British High Commission says Simon Bond has been appointed by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office as acting high commissioner for the next 12 months.

In a press release the mission said Fraser Wheeler left Guyana on Saturday on completion of his tour as High Commissioner to Guyana. Bond was previously deputy high commissioner in Guyana since July 2008. His previous overseas postings were as political officer in Trinidad and Tobago, as political and press officer in Uganda and as deputy head of mission in Senegal.

Before arriving in Guyana, Bond worked at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London responsible for policy on Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and subsequently on African conflict and peacekeeping issues. Bond is married with two children.
