Antigua cops in huge drug bust

Police in Antigua and Barbuda say they have made the largest drug bust in the history of the twin-island nation.

According to the Jamaica Gleaner/Power 106, the authorities say they seized close to two thousand pounds of cocaine with a street value of US$47 million in the southern part of the island.

The drugs were found on a ship arriving from Venezuela during a joint operation carried out on Wednesday by the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy, the Defence Force and the Coast Guard.

Four men, three Venezuelans and a Colombian, are assisting the authorities with investigations.

No one has yet been charged.
