Children benefiting from art camp

The Burrowes School of Art says children are benefiting from a packed programme at its art camp.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release the School is hosting a two-week programme for youths between the ages of nine and 16 years, a four-week programme for children between the ages of six and 12 years and a five-week course for adults. Children are engaged in activities including art and craft, finger-painting, graphics, ceramics, textile design and various games. They are also being given History and English lessons as well as Sign Language classes.

Tutor Sean Thomas said the students are also being taught to develop self-respect and how to respect others. He noted that they are currently working on ceramics and creating various sculptures. Other activities planned for the remainder of the two-week programme include weaving using wool, drama and songs.

At the close of the camp students will be given a certificate of participation and the projects they would have completed will be exhibited.
