Dad forgives daughter over US dollars she didn’t bank

The 22-year-old who had allegedly misused monies that her father sent to her to bank was yesterday read three more charges of fraudulent conversion by Magistrate Priya Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Shaeyantie Adams of Block ‘X’, Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, pleaded guilty to the charges.

She admitted that on March 26, she received US$140, then on April 2 she received US$300 and another US$300 on May 25, all from her father Gregory Adams, which in total is equivalent to about $140,000 Guyana currency, in order that she may place the monies in his Republic Bank account but she fraudulently converted it to her own uses.

The magistrate ordered that a probation report be presented to the court before she imposes a sentence  on Adams.

However, the woman’s father, who was also present in court, stated that “I don’t wan de case go further cause she gah a six-month-old baby.”

The father stated that he loves his daughter and has forgiven her for her misdeeds against him.

The magistrate then placed Adams on $50,000 bail and ordered that she appear again in court on August 16, when a probation report is expected to be presented.
