Bill seeks to end whipping of juveniles

Government is moving to remove whipping as a punishment for children on the books and has tabled an amendment to the law in Parliament.

The Juvenile Offenders (Amendment) Bill was tabled last week in the National Assembly by Home Affairs Minister, Clement Rohee. It is seeking to amend section 19 of the law and provides for the removal of whipping for any offence committed by children or young adults.
