Reporter charged with threatening behaviour

A reporter accused of using threatening language and threatening behaviour was yesterday granted $20,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

The allegation is that on August 9 at Georgetown, Rawle Toney, 28, of 64 D’Urban Street, Lodge made use of threatening behaviour to Candace Toney resulting in a breach of the peace. On the same day also, Toney is accused of making use of threatening language to the said Candace Toney.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to both charges when they were read to him by the Magistrate.

Attorney-at-Law Sasha Roberts who represented the accused made an application for reasonable bail.

Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford had no objection to the bail application made by the Attorney.

Toney was later granted $20,000 bail and ordered to return to court on September 14.
