Child dies after drinking Hydrogen Peroxide

A two-year-old boy of Tempe Village, West Coast Berbice succumbed around 1 pm yesterday after he ingested hydrogen peroxide that was in a bottle on a ledge in a bedroom.

Police sources told Stabroek News that the child, Esaun Patram was on a bed when he reached for the bottle and poured its contents into his mouth.

He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The child was at home with his mother, Melanie Kendall and two siblings when the incident occurred. The woman had gotten the solution during last week to treat an infected toe.

According to reports, Kendall was in the living room when she noticed the child stumbling out of the room, frothing from the mouth.

When this newspaper visited the home yesterday, the father was still in shock from the incident and kept lamenting the loss of his son. He was away at work in the Abary Creek when he received the sad news.
