‘Save the Water’ jingle to air on 98.1

The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) premiered its ‘Save the Water’ radio jingle featuring X2 singer Jomo and Tassa veteran Rajesh Dubraj on Thursday.

In a press release GWI said the jingle was composed by veteran songwriter and producer Burchmore Simon of Kross Kolor Records. It is an essential part of GWI’s 2010 Water Conservation and Public Education Strategic Plan and executed under the theme ‘Creating Behavioural Change to Curb Wastage’. The jingle was sponsored by the Pan-American Health Organisation and will be aired on 98.1 Hot FM this month.

In his feature address at the launching Minister of Housing and Water Irfaan Ali said last July the United Nations General Assembly had adopted a historical resolution which recognises access to clean water and sanitation as an international human right. This measure “coincides nicely with GWI’s overall vision as a water and sanitation services supplier,” the minister said, as he called on the nation to make water conservation their obligation.
