TV stations warned over language in film, videos

The Advisory Committee on Broadcasting (ACB) has objected to rum music and indecent language in local programming and recently issued warnings to several television stations.

Television station owners were asked to desist from airing music videos that are “lewd” and “obnoxious”; specific reference was made to videos that relate to the proliferation of rum and those which infringe regulation 23A (a) of the broadcast licence.

ACB said in a statement that letters were sent out this month to SKAR TV channel 46/102 which aired the film, Taken and to BTV channel 2 which aired the music videos “Duces” and “Love The Way You Lie”. According to the ACB, the film and both music videos contained indecent language.

The committee called on television stations to review the contents of movies and videos prior to airing them, adding that it was looking forward to the cooperation of the media.
