Guyana Annual receiving submissions

The Guyana Annual is receiving submissions for its thirteenth issue which will be on sale from mid December and will feature interesting stories and articles from children and young adults in Guyana.

According to a press release from its Editor Petamber Persaud, the magazine will seek to address issues in Guyanese daily life and global influences on the children and people of our nation.

In addition, articles from professional writers and aficionados of various disciplines; such as technology, art, cuisine, culture, entertainment and fashion will also be featured.

An online version is to be launched, which will allow visitors to the website to read selected articles from the current issue. Additionally, readers will be able to access full articles from past issues, post comments, blog, follow on Facebook and twitter and make online purchases.

The release said the online launch will coincide with the launch of the magazine and will cater for video interviews with the winners of the literary prizes as well as videos of the actual event.

Entries for the submission of the thirteenth issue of the magazine can be sent to its publisher Guyenterprise Advertising Agency, 234 Lance Gibbs and Irving Streets, Queenstown or to Envisage Marketing and Technology Company, 118 N Cowan Street, Kingston. Contributors can also submit their pieces on its Facebook account: The Guyana Annual. Entries must be received by October 30.

The Guyana Annual, formerly the Chronicle Christmas Annual was launched in 1915 with its last publication in 1992 before being resuscitated in 1998 by Dr Tulsi Dyal Singh.

The Annual attracts the Martin Carter Essay Prize and the Egbert Martin Poetry Prize, specially designed to encourage writing by children under eleven years old. Other categories of competition include providing reading material for children via the Henry Josiah Writing Story of Children and the Rajkumari Singh Writing Poetry for Children.
