Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr Frank Anthony held discussions on a National Drama Festival and establishing a theatre school for youths with members of the entertainment sector at a meeting held on Saturday.
The meeting targeted persons involved in the creative arts, specifically those in theatre, dance and writing who volunteered to form a committee along with the ministry to plan and execute the proposed festival next year.
According to a Government Information Agency press release the festival aims to benefit youths who are interested in drama and the creative arts, as well as to further inspire those already in the field. Anthony said forming the committee is the first step of the planning process and the experience and expertise of the volunteers will help to propel the activity for the following year.
He also said the ministry is hoping to establish a theatre school at the National Cultural Centre where the public will have the opportunity to participate in stage shows and other forms of entertainment. The meeting was held at the Carifesta Sports Complex.
