Woman placed on $40,000 bail over dog attack

A woman who is being blamed for a man being injured because of her un-muzzled dog was yesterday placed on $40,000 bail when she appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It is alleged that on October 16 at Georgetown, Donna Chung being the owner of a ferocious dog, suffered it to be at large and un-muzzled,  causing injuries to Vic Insanally.

The mother of one pleaded not guilty to the charge of suffering un-muzzled dog to be at large when it was read to her by the acting chief magistrate.

Prosecutor Lionel Harvey in giving the facts of the case told the court that on the day in question the defendant’s dog escaped from her yard and attacked the complainant who sustained injuries as a result.

The woman’s attorney made an application for her client to be admitted to reasonable bail, citing that she has no previous convictions, poses no risk of flight, has a fixed address and has been cooperating with the police in their investigations.

The prosecution had no objection to the accused being granted bail.
The attorney’s request was acknowledged and Chung was granted her pretrial liberty in the sum of $40,000. Her matter was transferred to Court Three for November 2 for report and fixture.
