The case against Carolan Lynch over the murder of her husband Farouk Razac was called again yesterday but she was not present in court and the police said that she has not yet been located.

When asked by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry the reason for Lynch’s non-appearance, the investigating officer in the matter entered the witness box and under oath told the court that she was unable to locate the woman.
In a sworn statement, the officer further told the court that she visited Lynch’s residence but she appeared not to have been there.

Meanwhile, Prosecutor Lionel Harvey in his address to the court made a request that an arrest warrant not be issued for the defendant since she was not notified that she needed to attend court.

Harvey then requested a short adjournment so that Lynch can be told that she is needed at court for the murder charge.

The prosecution’s request was granted and the matter will be called again on November 9.

Lynch’s matter was called on Monday but she was absent. From the witness box, the investigating officer swore to the information for murder against her.

Unable to have the accused present at court on Monday, the prosecution then asked the court that the matter be adjourned until yesterday in a bid to have the woman summoned.

On Friday last, Nigel Hughes, Lynch’s attorney confirmed that police had re-filed a murder charge against her for the death of her husband, the former boss of Swiss House Cambio.

The woman was previously charged with Razac’s murder in 2008, but Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys had ruled that he found no prima facie case against her and the matter was discharged.

She had been charged in May 2007 after Razac was found dead on the floor of their Eping Avenue, Bel Air home.

There was evidence he had bled through his nose and mouth and his hands were at his neck.

An autopsy later confirmed that he had been strangled.
