Man remanded over killing childhood friend

The John Street man accused of killing his childhood friend after an argument over some clothing was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation against Redrick Alexander is that on November 3 at John Street, Lodge, Georgetown he murdered Carl Thomas.

He was not required to plead to the capital offence of murder.
The unrepresented Alexander was remanded to prison until December 13 for reports.
Carl Thomas, 55, of 35 John Street, Lodge died while receiving treatment at the public hospital.

He sustained a single stab wound in his abdomen which relatives said punctured vital organs.

Thomas was stabbed in front of his home around 6.30 pm on Wednesday last.
Thomas and his alleged attacker grew up together and lived like brothers, according to his family. The two men were quarrelling over clothes which Thomas said went missing when the incident occurred.
