PGS guard dies after hit by bus

According to a police press release, the accident occurred at around 10:30 pm when the man was struck down by minibus BHH 4522 on the Rupert Craig Highway. “Investigations revealed that the driver of mini-bus BHH 4522 was proceeding along the roadway when it is alleged that Leroy Benjamin attempted to cross the road and was struck down,” the police said. Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at around 11:15 pm.  The driver of the motor vehicle is in police custody assisting with investigations.

Benjamin was employed Professional Guard Service (PGS) and was an escort guard as part of the company’s cash crew.

Staff at the Guard Service told Stabroek News yesterday that Benjamin was going home that evening when he was killed.

He was described as a very hard-working employee.
