Guyana donating $20M each to St Lucia, St Vincent after Tomas

The Guyana government will donate US$100,000 to St Lucia and US$100,000 to St Vincent and the Grenadines to assist the governments of those countries in their efforts to restore infrastructure and to provide relief to their citizens following the destruction caused by Hurricane Tomas earlier this month.

In the meantime, the Guyana government is hoping that the international community would respond to the calls of its sister Member States of CARICOM for much needed assistance to help them to return to a state of normalcy, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs release stated yesterday.

And in a separate message to his CARICOM colleagues, President Bharrat Jagdeo had conveyed the sympathies of the government and people of Guyana to the governments and peoples of St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines in the aftermath of Hurricane Tomas.
