A 13-year-old boy is missing following a boat collision in the Pomeroon River on Sunday afternoon.

Missing is Jason Abrams of Mainstay, Pomeroon River. Up to press time last evening this newspaper could not ascertain if his body had been found.

Police said in a press release yesterday that it is suspected that around 17:30 hours on Sunday two boats were racing in the Pomeroon River when one of them collided with a canoe in which Ovid Garraway, 34, also of Mainstay, Pomeroon River and Abrams were travelling.

As a result of the collision Abrams fell overboard and is feared to have drowned.

The pilot of one of the boats has been arrested and is in police custody while efforts are continuing to locate the pilot of the other boat, the release added.
