Cops nab suspected carjackers

-find vehicle at Bel Air workshop

A taxi driver was on Wednesday night attacked by four men and robbed at gunpoint of his motor car and cash at Bare Root, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Three men and a male juvenile were later arrested and are assisting with the investigation.

A police press release yesterday said that an investigation has been launched into an armed robbery that occurred around 9pm on Wednesday, during which taxi-driver Breone Wright, 31, of Melanie Damishana, ECD, was attacked and robbed by four men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Investigations revealed that Wright was proceeding along the access road when he was stopped by the men, who enquired the cost to go to the public road.

The men then joined the car during which they held Wright at gunpoint and robbed him of $5,000 cash, a cellular phone and his Carina AT 192 motor car.

The police responded promptly to the report and recovered the motor vehicle at a workshop at Bel Air, ECD.
