LUCAS STOCK INDEX

In week three of July 2010, the Lucas Stock Index (LSI) declined by about seven tenths of one percent.  The decline in value came from the stocks of Demerara Bank Limited (DBL) which fell by six percent from its previous close.  As a consequence, the gain of the LSI for the year fell to 13.73%.  Notwithstanding the decline, the index remains over three times higher than the yield on the risk-free Treasuries that will mature in August 2010.
