How to decorate a floor vase using dried flowers

Floor vases decorated with dried flowers will complement any décor theme or style. Buying a floor vase that is decorated with dried flowers can be costly, but you can make your own for a lot less.

For a wide-mouth floor vase, you will need about 25 flowers.

Use a work surface that can be brushed off easily because leaves and petals will make a mess.

Select a few of the prettiest flowers. Use scissors to cut down the stems to about 8 inches. Use a hot glue gun to glue the flowers directly onto the vase diagonally, vertically, or horizontally.

Arrange the rest of the dried flowers in your hand as you would a bouquet. Grasp them together at the stems and separate the types, then mix them together. You’ll want the varieties of flowers to be spread evenly through the bouquet rather than placed in clumps. Use the scissors to vary the length of the flowers to give the bouquet a layered look.

Insert the bouquet into the floor vase. Adjust the flowers until they look the way you want them to. Position some taller in the back, and shorter ones in the front.

Alternatively, you may decorate a floor vase, particularly one that has a narrow mouth, with tall dried grass or just a few dried stalks. Take the floor vase into the room of your choice. Position it in a corner, along a wall, or even as a dramatic end or centre piece. (eHow)
