A tale of a thief: On Monday, this group at De Kenderen, West Coast Demerara caught a large anaconda that is believed to be responsible for missing livestock. When the animals went missing, it was originally suspected that persons were stealing them. However, the group found what it believes to be the “real thief.” Shannon Carew said that he decided to catch the snake alive, after an elderly resident in the area spotted it lurking in a nearby ditch and alerted him. He then rounded up some other young people and they “lasso it and strap it.” The group was looking for a buyer for the “catch,” after ruling out taking it to the zoo, since transportation was hard to access.
