Man allegedly stabs brother to death in $1,000 row

A twenty-six-year-old mechanic was stabbed to death last night at his Den Amstel, West Bank Demarara home allegedly by  his brother following an argument over one thousand dollars, Divisional Commander Balram Persaud said this morning.

Persaud told Stabroek News that Marlon Roberts and his younger brother lived together at 92 Den Amstel Public Road.

At around 8:30 last evening the two were involved in an argument over $1,000 that Marlon lent his brother. The 21-year-old suspect threw the money on the ground and this further angered his brother and they become involved in a scuffle. Persaud said that the younger brother, a labourer, then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Marlon, killing him.

The young man is now in custody.
