Bilateral air service with T&T, India coming

(Trinidad Express) National carrier Caribbean Airlines Ltd (CAL) and Air India are working toward a bilateral air service agreement to improve air travel between Trinidad and Tobago and India, Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner has said.

Warner met on Tuesday with Indian High Commissioner Malay Mishra and Second Secretary Mahavir Bhardwaj at the ministry’s office in Port of Spain.

In a statement from his office on Wednesday Warner recommended a bilateral air service agreement with India and Trinidad and Tobago.

Mishra said Warner would have his cooperation to finalise the agreement, the statement added.

Mishra said that once the agreement was reached, people would travel from Trinidad to New York on Caribbean Airlines, then connect in New York and fly direct to Mumbai or Delhi with their luggage going directly from Trinidad to India.

The proposed air agreement was one of the initiatives discussed during the hour-long meeting.
