Woman in court over murder of husband at Eclipse Falls

The woman accused of clubbing her reputed husband to death at Eclipse Falls, North West District on Friday last, following a reported argument over money for their three children was yesterday remanded to prison.

The allegation against Pauline Williams is that between November 5 and 6, she murdered Augustine Henry.
The woman was not required to enter a plea to the capital offence of murder when it was read to her by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Police Sergeant Lennox Thornhill in giving the facts of the case told the court that between the dates mentioned, the defendant and some family friends were imbibing when Henry came home under the influence.

According to Thornhill, a domestic argument soon erupted between the two which later escalated into a physical encounter.
The sergeant said that the defendant dealt the victim a blow to the head which caused him to fall to the ground.
He was later rushed to the Port Kaituma Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention.
Williams was then told of the offence, cautioned, arrested and charged.

She was remanded to prison until February, 2. Her matter was transferred to the Matthew’s Ridge Magis-trate’s Court.
Henry had reportedly told the woman that he was sick and could not work. However on Friday around 5 pm, she caught him consuming alcohol and this led to a heated argument.
