Cellular signal comes and goes at Rose Hall

I am a resident of Rose Hall Town which is 13 miles along the Corentyne Coast, and my place of residence is a mere 250 feet from the Public Road in the heart of the town. I can’t understand for a town that is developing so much why a proper cellular service isn’t being offered by GT&T. I have changed four mobile phones over the years, namely the Motorola V220, V620, V360 and the Nokia 6230i and I’m now using the Motorola k1, which were all bought from prominent GT&T vendors. My family came to Berbice over the festive season and all who were using the ‘Best Network , Strongest Signal’  network have the same problem; their phones were getting a signal on and off, and most of the day it is emergency calls only. As I write this letter my phone has no service; it’s as if I have to put my phone through the window to get a proper signal.

I can’t say what the range of these GSM towers is, but currently there are two located at Kilcoy and Whim. These towers are six miles apart with Rose Hall being approximately in the middle of these GSM sites.

Come on GT&T, it’s a ‘Guyanese Thing’ to improve your coverage and enhance customer satisfaction. Place another tower at Port Mourant or Williamsburg like the red network.

Yours faithfully,
SM James
