Dear Editor,
The Guyana Police Force is responding to an article published in the Stabroek News on Monday March 15, 2010, under the caption `Why do Bartica residents have to go to Georgetown to renew licences and get fitness?’

In the letter to the editor, one Winston Miller Snr, who is apparently a resident of Bartica, in his last paragraph questioned why vehicle owners now have to travel to Georgetown to renew licences and get fitness when there is a GRA office in Bartica.

The Guyana Police Force wishes to clarify that the Traffic Department of the Guyana Police Force in Bartica is responsible for and continues to issue Motor Vehicle Fitness between Monday and Friday of the week.

However, Motor Vehicle Licences are being sold by the Guyana Revenue Authority.

Yours faithfully,
Ivelaw Whittaker
Public Relations and Press Officer
