A tale of two banks

Dear Editor,

We migrated about six years ago and had two bank accounts (jointly) in two different banks. Let’s call it the Red Bank and the Blue Bank. We emailed the Red Bank and requested information on the process involved in closing our account and transferring the balance to our account over here.

Red Bank acknowledged our email within a couple of days and indicated that they don’t give information via email and that they will send us the necessary forms to be completed in order to proceed with our request. We complied with the request from Red Bank and are happy to say that we received our balance in quick time.

We requested the same from Blue Bank, sent numerous emails as indicated on their homepage on the “contact” tab. We did the paper work with our banking information which was verified by our bank over here, sent it to Blue Bank and so far we have not heard anything from them.

Our account has not been serviced for over two years and as such they will start taking out interest every month. We are wondering whether this is a deliberate attempt to exhaust our account.

Yours faithfully,
