What is wrong with this country? I called the Turkeyen Police Station to come and turn off some loud, lewd music yesterday (Sunday, September 26) and they could not help. They were seeking help from Sparendaam and the community police. They never have a vehicle, they are always changing staff and there are always only two police ranks in the station. I had to endure torment until the noise-maker decided to stop the music on Monday morning. He is promising a weekend show. How do I teach the children the next day after such a disturbance?
Next, I always have to argue at the public hospital and clinics so I could get the right medication for my child. Regardless of the doctor’s orders, I am only given one 60 ml bottle of antibiotic. That one bottle is expected to last a 4-year-old seven days with 2 tsp twice a day. They are putting our children in danger.
Finally, GPL are so rude. I called them to report blinking lights and could not get past “This is GPL’s policy, not mine.” They do not listen. They are not customer friendly. I am tired of fighting so much to get a comfortable living in this place. This backwater attitude is not conducive to productivity. This is not a nice Guyana; could somebody do something?
People should not have to call the police about noise nuisance; the police must hear it and shut off the music because it is noisy. That should be part of their training.
