Mr Ramjattan’s call for Caricom probe shows lack of confidence in Guyanese

Dear Editor,

I respectfully wish to refer to the comments of Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan in the Stabroek News on Tuesday November 23rd 2010. The honourable gentleman is quoted as saying “We are demanding an investigation…(into the maternity deaths).

It must be independent of course. We would prefer a Caricom team to be here for purposes of carrying out this investigation”.

I am a Guyanese who has returned to resettle and I am now in the process of determining my political commitment. This comment of Mr. Ramjattan has eliminated him as a person who can be my political leader.

In this day and age Mr. Ramjattan is still outward looking for the solution of our inward problems, it betrays a paucity of thought and a lack of confidence in things Guyanese.

We will not get there in one stroke, we will make mistakes but the mistakes will be our mistakes, the lesson will be our lesson but together we will grow, develop and conquer.

I invite Mr. Ramjattan to remove himself from the political process, even if a single flower must bloom, let him give way so that it can bloom.

Yours sincerely,
R T  Ouellet
