Powell returns for Leewards clash following suspension

The 31-year-old, who played the last of his 37 Tests almost a year ago now, was one of three players not considered for opening round matches after breaking team rules prior to the start of the tournament.

Pacer Andre Russell and off-spinner Bevon Brown were the other players sanctioned.

Powell will replace the 21-year-old, former West Indies Under-19s pacer Jason Dawes who did not make the final XI for the first match against the Windward Islands which Jamaica won by six wickets.

The right-armer Powell will bring experience and pace to an attack that has Andrew Richardson as the other fast bowler.

The Jamaicans  were scheduled to leave yesterday for St Kitts where they clash with the Leeward Islands at Warner Park in the second round starting Friday.

In the other matches, Barbados will face Combined Campuses and Colleges while Guyana, after having a first round bye, take on Trinidad & Tobago at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground.
