Guyanese players shine in T&T cricket league

Berbice wicketkeeper Delbert Hicks, playing for Santa Cruz against Aranguez, stroked an unbeaten 112 in his team’s second innings score of 261-9 declared. Aranguez batting a second time were 61-1 with Maltenoes Sports Club (MSC) Kellon Carmichael not out on 36 (7×4).

Santa Cruz in the first innings after winning the toss and batting, made 148 all out with former Guyana youth player Gobin Aniram stroking 65, which included 12 boundaries.

Bowling Aranguez, Trinidad  & Tobago  under-19 spinner Javed Boodram took  4-30 while Carmichael supported 2-42 after bowling 16 overs on the trot. Aranguez, in their first innings reply, were bowled out for 158 with Carmichael top scoring 45, which was decorated with five fours.

Hicks’ glove work was good as he grabbed six dismissals in the second inning before Santa Cruz replied with 261-9. Carmichael was once again in the thick of things when he took 3-40 to take his match haul to five wickets bowling in the second innings.

In the match against Rousillac United and Calcutta Sports, the latter team composed 204 all out. Bowling for Rosillac United, Guyana Defense Force’s (GDF) leg spinner Travis Blyden snared 3-43. Rousillac in reply made 212 all out with Blyden returning with the bat to score 39 (5×4).

Calcutta, batting a second time, had to contend with Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) all rounder Elton Baker who took six wickets for 39 runs bowling medium pace for Rousillac United; Culcutta were bowled out 116.

Rousillac needing 109 for victory won with four wickets to spare with Blyden making 20.
