- Warriors squeeze past Mocha Champs

Soesdyke Falcons’ John Gordon scored a helmet-trick to help his team get past Kuru-Kuru Lions on Sunday when the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) Stag First Division League continued at the Grove Playfield.

The Falcons are  now on nine points after the 4 – 0 victory while the Lions are struggling at the bottom of the table with three points, while third place holders, Kuru-Kururu Warriors, who are on 12 points defeated Mocha Champs (7 points) 2 – 1.

The league continues this Sunday with another double header at the same venue with Lions going head to head with Mocha Champs at 13:00hrs and Grove Hi-Tech facing off against Warriors at 15:00hrs.

Those are the final two games in the first round and then  the top four teams will qualify for the second round which will be played on a round-robin format to decide the league champion.

In the Falcons/Lions showdown Gordon gave Falcons the lead as early as the tenth minute, then doubled in the 18th minute and completed his hat-trick in the 27th minute to give his team a comfortable lead at half time.

Gordon delivered the final blow in the 59th minute to make their grip on victory even tighter.

In the second showdown, Warriors drew first blood in the eighth minute, compliments of Cordeil Johnson and Clive Chester who found an opening in the 17th minute was able to double his team’s lead.

The opposition pulled one back in the 30th minute but the Warriors were able to hold them off from equalizing  to reign supreme.
