Derwin Christian hits 70 in South Zone

Guyana’s wicketkeeper batsman Derwin Christian playing his first game for Rochard Road in the Senior Division of the South Zone, scored a rapid 70 in a drawn encounter for his team in Trinidad and Tobago recently.

A fair sized crowd was on hand to watch the Guyanese but  it was Hillpiece that dominated, scoring 444 batting first. Rochard Road then replied with 204 and following on they reached 156/5 with Christian hitting a 50-ball 70.

Also in the Senior Division,  Guyanese Paul Bevaun was the star performer for Debe Youth Foundation. Bevaun hit a fluent 132 to take his team to 264 all out batting first. He was ably assisted by another Guyanese player in Ron Ramnauth who scored 29. HYO in reply got to 338 with Bevaun turning bowler and taking 3/29. Batting a second time Debe Youth Foundation closed on 157/4 with Bevon scoring an unbeaten 33.
