Essequibo lose third match despite Adams’ 95

Essequibo put up a fight on the back of a brilliant 95 from Ricardo Adams but Berbice eventually prevailed over their counterparts at the Anna Regina Community Centre ground yesterday in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Castrol Under-15 Inter-County one-day tournament.

It was the third defeat for the Essequibo side in as many matches of the competition following two consecutive losses to Demerara in the first two rounds.

Yesterday Essequibo posted 179-7 from their allotted 50 overs with Adams blasting five sixes and two fours.

Dexter Williams was the only other batsman to reach double figures with an undefeated 27.

Berbice captain Shawn Perreira took 2-31 from 10 overs.

In reply, Berbice reached 180-7 from 48.5 overs with Romario De Jonge stroking 37; Quacy Mc Pherson 34 and Perreira 32.

Medium pacer Raj Parbattie picked up 2-19 from five overs.

The tournament continues today with the same two teams in action from 09:30 hours.
